ADLib Glossary (E)

Ecological Improvement

The spreading of the waste must lead to the maintenance, improvement or development of a habitat. Improvement can include the creation of a new habitat or the restoration of an old one to give greater biodiversity and sustainability. Although crop yield and quality are not relevant in an ecological sense the addition of wastes that contain nutrients, organic matter or some other property may also lead to an ecological improvement of some kind. Each claimed benefit should have its own justification.
