General Description:

This Directive was introduced following an outbreak of bluetongue on the Greek Islands, and lays down provisions based on those of Directive 92/35/EEC which lays down control rules and measures to combat African horse sickness which has a similar epidemiology to bluetongue. This Directive introduces amendments to the provisions of the previous Directive, in order to take account of the target species' (all ruminants) specific characteristics.
