Grassland: Selecting indicators of success for grassland enhancement (TIN050)

This is an optional indicator, which should always be used where a high-value feature such as BAP grassland is present. The minimum aim is to protect the high value feature from being reduced in extent, for example, by inappropriate management.

In general, when using option HK7 the aim is to restore BAP habitat from a less diverse starting point (usually semi-improved grassland) and to increase the extent of BAP habitat (possibly from zero if the whole site is semi-improved at the start of the agreement) by enhancing the semi-improved areas. The current wording of this indicator does not easily permit its use for quantifying the desired extent of enhanced species-rich grassland.
