In the main the NNFCC covers all uses of plant derived materials, derivatives and by-products for commercial non-food purposes, except plants grown for ornamental purposes and forestry grown solely for timber. However, it will also hold some information on the use of micro-organisms in processing applications, and the non-food uses of animal products. It also tries to avoid overlapping work done by organisation specialising in the use of crops for energy and transport fuel.
