The National Bee Unit functions to protect honeybees, as essential pollinators of plants, from disease and environmental damage. This is achieved via a programme of inspections, diagnosis, research, training and advice. The Unit also offers a number of commercial services including efficacy testing of veterinary medicines for bees and assessing the effects of pesticides on bees and other beneficial insects.
