Special Environmental Sites and Schemes

21. Archaeology Grants

Archaeological sites vary from the visible standing ruins of medieval castles and the earthworks of ancient settlements and field systems to remains that are now completely buried. Grants from English Heritage can be given for major repairs or management works, including repair of earthworks, masonry repointing and stabilisation schemes. Management agreements may also be offered for positive management measures (but not for routine maintenance), as well as assistance with the costs of interpreting historic sites to the visiting public through farm survey grants.
