Definition:

Watercourses

Watercourses include all surface waters whether coastal waters, estuaries, lakes, ponds, rivers, streams, canals and fields ditches. Even if ditches are dry much of the time they are classified as surface watercourses. They may also include man-made ditches where they flow into controlled waters. Sometimes they may be culverted (covered) or they may naturally flow underground.
