Assured Food Standards - the Little Red Tractor

Assured Food Standards - Red Tractor Assurance
Assured Food Standards

Red Tractor Assurance (RTA) is a food assurance scheme which covers production standards developed by experts on safety, hygiene, animal welfare and the environment and origin throughout the food supply chain.

Assured Food Standards (AFS), is the independent non-for profit organisation that regulates the use of the Red Tractor logo and and its standards. AFS ensures that farmers and growers are producing food to meet a set of agreed, and independently inspected, standards marking good agricultural practice. Standards are checked regularly by trained inspectors in order maintain quality assurance, nurture trust from the public and provide produce quality reassurance.

AFS incorporates many assurance schemes within it, where the AFS has the role of independent umbrella body for all the schemes involved in the Red Tractor initiative. Different schemes operate in different food sectors and the AFS help develop the detailed standards and inspection systems for each sector.
