Oilseed Rape and Linseed, Spring Sown – Nitrogen

Nitrogen

Apply all the nitrogen in the seedbed. On light sand soils where the total rate is more than 80 kg N/ha, the dressing should be split with 50 kg N/ha in the seedbed and the remainder by early May.

The recommendations in the table are based on a breakeven ratio of 2.5 (see page 33). If the price of nitrogen or the value of grain changes, use the table under winter sown oilseed rape to decide on an amount to add to or subtract from the nitrogen application.

Don’t forget to deduct nutrients applied as organic manures (see section 2)
