The RSPB was formed in 1889 as an embryonic society in a response to conservation issues. Through out its history the RSPB has been guided by sound conservation principles rather than emotion. The RSPB has offices throughout the UK and an international presence.

The Society are active in a wide variety of ways including practical activities, the provision of sound conservation advice to the public and land owners / managers, they help develop government and local policy and are active as lobbyists.
