General Description:

These regulations replace previous legislation of the same name.

These regulations implement EC Regulation 1765/92 which establish a support system for the producers of certain arable crops. This scheme pays compensation for reduction in support prices for growers of cereals, oilseeds, linseed (other than fibre flax) or protein crops. To qualify for these compensation payments part of the area on which aid is claimed must be set-aside (i.e. taken out of production). The rules also allow for additional land to be set-aside (Voluntary set-aside). Payments are made subject to several other restrictions and rules, but these restrictions and rules change very frequently and you should seek expert advice if in any doubt. More information can be found in the Advisory system document on Set-aside.
